Discover your unique face! The Facetopo project helps you to learn about your unique face by generating custom face stats from your facemaps. Facetopo celebrates diversity; all are welcome here.

Your face tells the world who you are. Your face tells your story: family history, ethnicity, and ethnography. Have you heard that you never get a second chance to create a first impression? Some believe the face reveals personality and character traits.
Facetopo data scientists map, measure, quantify, and compare a large diverse set of human facial morphology, all crowd-sourced from our community and kept private and secure. Take the first step in mapping out your own story. Join the Facetopo project by installing our free app. You'll create a private password-protected account to create your own 3D facemaps.
QUANTIFYING DIVERSITY
Facetopo believes humankind is united by differences as well as similarities.
Have you ever wondered why Peruvian faces resemble Tibetan faces? By mapping and comparing a wide variety of faces from all over the world, we hope to discover connections between peoples -- and people.
Facial structure is linked to health and genetics. Facetopo scientists hope to increase our understanding of variation in human facial phenotypes. By deriving a network of relationships through facial analysis we hope to discover connections between all faces.

CITIZEN SCIENCE
Today's networked world enables citizen science: non-scientists contributing data for scientific research. FaceTopo's data is crowd-sourced via the FaceTopo app which enables anyone (age 14+) to create a 3D face map using a smartphone or tablet. Utilzing the front-facing "selfie" camera on your phone, the Facetopo app guides you in creating your own 3D facemap, accessible only by you.
FaceTopo is for individuals ages 14+ (the human face undergoes substantial morphological changes during puberty). Age 14+ is considered the adult face. (** Users age 17 and under require parental consent for account creation).
MORE FACES, MORE FINDINGS
Facetopo data scientists need lots of data in order to make discoveries, so we're hoping to reach 1 million facemaps in 2020.
When we achieve 100K facemaps, we will be able to identify emergent patterns and correlations in our data. We plan to generate a global 'face tree' dendrogram, a visualization of facial similarity. As the Facetopo community grows, Users who opt-in will be able to connect with others with similar faces, including lookalike 'facetwins' or 'doppelgangers' around the world.
Someday we hope to visit remote locations off the internet grid with a Facetopo Bus to grow our community.
THE SCIENCE
We plan to communicate our research to the Facetopo community and publish scientific findings in journals.
Your facemap is pooled with all of the other anonymized facemaps as we analyze the global population looking for similarities, differences, and patterns. We carry out data analysis that statistically creates groups of similar and contrasting facial measurements within a very large population dataset.
When we have more face data, Facetopo will enable Users to create their visual family tree and see how their family's faces relate to each other in a 'family face tree'. Your facemap can be compared to other family members' facemaps to visualize your ancestry and ethnic origins.
Analysis of global facemap data will generate a global face tree. Based solely on maps of physical facial features, FaceTopo results could connect lookalikes in the world. As the FaceTopo community grows, Users should be able to learn of your face-twins in the world, throughout history.
